About Me

Hi, I'm Ariel, thank you for visiting my portfolio.

For more than ten years I worked as a literature teacher and currently I'm starting a career as Jr Developer / Web Designer, open to challenges and opportunities to grow as a professional and learn or improve my skills in programming & design.

Skills & Projects

Having worked for so many years teaching literature, I'll say that my area of expertise involves mainly humanistic studies, communication, listening and sharing ideas, and working with groups of people.
However, during the last few years I began to study and carry out small programming and web design projects. Below are some of them.

Film Society App

React + JS | Python + Flask (marsmallow, sqlalchemy, dotenv...) | MySQL

I am passionate about cinema. For ten years I have met with friends once a week, we have a delicious dinner, we watch a film, we discuss it and we keep a record on a spreadsheet (with more than four hundred films that we've shared all this years). For the tenth anniversary I developed a full-stack application so that my friends can use all this information in an accessible and intuitive way.

pAIdeia in the Rye

HTML + CSS + JS | ChatGPT + Craiyon + TTSMaker | Olive

One of my students' favorite novels is The Catcher in the Rye. My task usually consists of teaching them the literary strategies and techniques that J. D. Salinger used to write that text. In 2023 I proposed a project that we presented at the First Arts Day of Paideia School. My students "competed" with chatGPT to create an apocryphal fragment of the novel, which then I assembled in a classroom read out loud by TTS software along with an artistic video that I had edited with images from that time. Finally I also developed a simple website with a carousel to access the texts and information. I used the AI application Craiyon to create some allusive images to decorate the web

Unity Gaming Projects

Unity | C# |

I like videogames. A lot. At some point it became just natural to learn some Unity design & development, being the platform with the largest community / documentation available. So, I set out to do the pathways. I completed more than a hundred tutorials, got medals, answered quizzes, and so on. Along the way I practiced on several projects. Check out, if you will, the repository of one of the most ambitious one, involving my favourite fútbol player.

Small programs for every-day tasks.

(A sample of other minor projects)

RandomBBB

A Python program that, on the one hand, creates a DB taking the data from an xml and saves it on Shelves; and on the other hand chooses a book at random that has not yet been chosen (Yes, we may have gamified the simple act of choosing a book to read.)

BackEndCO

A simple system for a colleague who needed to organize the information. The Backend is developed in Flask with SQLAlchemy and the Frontend uses Python Templates with Jinja2

Kuki Cliquer

One of my oldests. When i was learning JavaScript+HTML/CSS basics, i started this incremental (ASCII/Idle inspired) game conceived to improve and practice my skills. Repo | Web
